Kobe No Thanks

Dear Mr. Bryant,

I just heard you tell Stephen A. Smith that you would like to be traded, and there is nothing that we can do to keep you here in LA. Well son, I got some bad news for you; that's not going to happen. You see we need to keep this team remotely competitive so that we can keep A-list celebrities in the seats and make tons of money. No matter what a team in the NBA is willing to offer us, we are not going to cave into your demand this time. I hope you remember after all that it was you that demanded that either Shaq goes or you go. It was one of the first things I had to do as a GM, and it will probably keep me from getting another job in the NBA if I get fired here. But remember I kept you, he won a championship. Another thing I hope you remember is that you promised us that if we traded Shaq you were coming back to the Lakers no matter what; do you not remember almost signing with our crosstown redheaded step child the Clippers? Remember that last year we would've beat the Suns in the first round and possibly moved on even further, but you choked in game 6 and decided not to show up in game 7. I admit though we've done our best to appease you so much that I almost started calling you Boss instead of Mr. DUI, oh wait I mean Mr. Buss. Jerry West groomed me after him so that I could be a successful GM and build a winning team. I threw all of that away however to keep you happy, and now your going to stab me in the back and demand for him to come back?
It was you after all that couldn't put your personal ego aside to stay with Shaq. Just think had you just been less selfish you may have been able to get another 3 or 4 rings with Shaq and possibly go down along with Jordan and Wilt and Magic and Bird as the best ever. Instead your not, you'll be remembered as one of the most selfish players ever. So Kobe to your trade demand I say No Thanks, I was going to spend this summer trying to get some type of help for you, but now? Nope I'm going to sit here and let you waste your prime on a mediocre team that you demanded.

Love,
Mitch Kupchak

P.S. Now you tell Dan Patrick you want to stay because Phil Jackson told you something different? Honestly now maybe I will trade you, your me myself and I attitude makes it impossible for me to bring you any decent talent here. Here's something that you need to learn Kobe, Just Shut UP.

Kobe did NOT ride Shaq out of town. If he did, why would Shaq cover up for him three years later? Jerry Buss knew he couldn't afford to keep both Shaq and Kobe, so he decided he wanted Kobe because he was younger.

Kobe knows he won't get traded. He'll just count the days till he can opt out, much like Alex Rodriguez is doing. In the meantime, this is just another example of Kobe showing that he should have paid attention in his communications classes in college. (Oh, wait, that's right...)

Kobe Trade

If a trade like this fell into the Lackers lap they would take it. Any player is tradeable. Just because they are a superstar doesn't mean a team won't trade them.
