Lottery done right
Memphis, Boston, and Milwaukee, what do all 3 have in common? They tanked at the end of the season to try and get the best odds for the NBA draft lottery. They ruined games for the fans, ruined games for potiental playoff seeding and now look at them their hopes for the future lie in ruins. The NBA brought the lottery into play to stop teams from tanking and to not reward the worst teams with the first pick. I think it was pretty obvious to everyone that paid attention to the NBA through the course of this season that Seattle was going to get a top 2 pick. The team's new owner wants to move them out of Seattle and the people of Seattle don't want to build a new stadium. But now look they got a new superstar and they have something to build hope for and build a stadium around, just like San Antonio did when they got David Robinson. It was also pretty obvious that Atlanta was going to get the 3rd pick in the draft, this team has been terrible for over 15 years, now you think the NBA wanted the Suns to get a top 5 pick so they could have a championship run. Now the Hawks have the 3rd and 11th pick in a deep draft and can add Conley or Acie Law, to sovle their decade long point guard issues, then use the 11th pick on Spencer Hawes to get the bigman they need. That left the top pick up for grabs, now as much as we all loved the what will they do next Jail Blazers, Portland has done all the right things since then to make the team better and bring in high character guys. The Lottery is all luck, but think about this Portland played as hard as it could the whole year(which caused me to constantly argue with my boy Neil that they should tank);but Boston, Memphis, and Milwaukee all gave up games, and thats what the Lottery was put into place to stop.

The Bucks didn't really tank their games. Their problems was with injuries. Having Redd and Simmons going down during the year really hurt the Bucks.
Add in other injuries to Bogut and others on the team you get a team that was suppose to finish 3rd or 4th in their division to nearly last place. I wouldn't call that tanking or giving away games near the end of the year.
If the Bucks were healthy all year they probably would have made the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference.
Other than the Bucks part was a great review of what went down in the lottery.
